Audio Magic! for the Blind (and Blind at Heart)
Are you ready to hear some magic?
Perhaps you’re one of the blind. THAT’S OK! You have the right to be amazed, bewitched, and, ahem, offended.
Portland’s Jona Bechtolt has teamed up with Jackson Anderson to bring all of us (vision blessed and deprived alike) Audio Magic.
Close your eyes (if you’re not already blind) and imagine I have a deck of cards. I fan them out in front of your worthless eyes. Pick one. Do it. What card is it? HA! You don’t know: you’re blind (or your eyes are closed.) But, imagine it’s a card…any card. I take the deck back and shuffle thoroughly. Turn around and around and around until you’re dizzy. Oh, sorry: you’re puking. That’s OK. It’s part of the magic. Remember your card? Well, I’m holding the exact same card in front of your face! How did I know? Magic. Aural magic. While it’s not nearly as successful as aural dog breeding or aural architecture, it’s on NPR! (Or, at least, a division of it: NPHR).
