Dead Moon to Agent: “We’re Not.”

deadmoonAt this point it seems very likely that Toody Cole, Fred Cole, and Andrew Loomis—the trio that has reigned over the world-wide underground rock scene for almost two decades—will no longer perform together.

Local Cut attempted to reach Dead Moon’s booking agent, Dave Kaplan at the Agency Group, this morning but he is out of the office today. However, his assistant Marc Bauer told us, in a tone that suggested there was no doubt about it his mind, “The band has broken up.” Although he says there is still no official statement from the band, he claims his office received an email from the Coles saying, “Cancel our New Year’s shows. We’re not.” I’m not sure if that’s a direct quote or Bauer’s summary, but the implication is clear.

But the lack of any word from the band provides me with a little hope. Until one of the members comes forward and offers an explanation, I’ll continue to cross my fingers that this has there has been a misunderstanding. Rumor has it that the Coles have skipped town, but LC will continue to attempt to track them down as well as Loomis. The latter case will mostly involve frequent trips to the Chin Yen.
