LEAK: Pure Country Gold, “You Got to Bro Up to Bro Down,” P.C.G.E.P. (Green Noise Records)

1092730630_lPure Country Gold is a band for the dudes. If its previous material didn’t make this clear enough, then “You Got to Bro Up to Bro Down,” one of four songs on the band’s brand new 7′-inch, grabs you by the neck and practically shouts PANSY in your face. This is not a song to listen to casually when cleaning your room, checking voice mail messages, or making a morning cup of coffee—”Bro Down” is instead the thing you toss on the turntable after a shitty day of work, turning the speakers up past Spinal Tap 11 to the point that you not only piss off your neighbors but wake them up with your stomping air-guitar take on good ol’ bluesy garage-rock.

The track’s drums rattle with primal urgency, cradled with thick guitar fuzz and chunky chords as Patrick Foss shouts to the PBR gods. The whole thing ends so quickly that, well, you’re only option is to play it again. Maybe songs like this weren’t intended for the digital age, but shit, dude, it sure sounds good.
