The British accent you hear in this track isn’t a put on—it is indeed the natural voice of Sportsday Megaphone’s Hugh Frost, who hails from London. He goes it alone when it comes to his high energy and dancey music, but obviously not when it comes to remixes. For “LA” Frost reigned in local king of the keytar Copy to remix the track then sent out an email about it that luckily landed in my inbox.

I don’t know Copy personally but asked him to remix “LA” after hearing a great mix of “Hundredaire” by Hey Willpower and am really happy with what came back. Thanks Marius!

I asked him for a few more words on the remix. Here’s what Mr. Frost had to say earlier today:
“There’s not too much more to tell about the Copy mix, but like I mentioned on the blog, I loved what I’d heard of his before—the Bone Thugs-n-Harmony mixtape is incredible. I guess I like the rich sounds and the driving nonstop pace, and even when the beat drops out of the mix, the synth lines are keeping it moving nicely. And with the totally over-the-top chorus cut out it maybe gives the ideas in the lyrics a bit more room to breathe.”

Other than the Copy remix, it appears Sportsday Megaphone has been bitten by the Portland bug as he just performed with YACHT at London’s ICA last night. How did that go?

“The YACHT gig was incredible! I played my favorite set in a long time and sold loads of records so I was extremely happy! And YACHT was of course amazing; really fun to see it as a twosome now. I’m really excited about their forthcoming DFA release.”

Fun gig times! Fun remix! Portland and London together like two (soy) pigs in a blanket.
