Blitzen Trapper Drop New Stop Motion Video
Awww, how cute. In the Jade Harris directed clip for Blitzen Trapper’s Dylanesque single “Furr,” singer Eric Earley’s words are depicted quite literally: wolves howl into the wind, dogs bark in trees, a rattlesnake appears while he sings “you’re a rattlesnake baby.” The video works, though, because it’s drenched in the same type of nostalgic world that Earley’s inhabits. Filmed using stop motion animation, the sepia-toned video works almost perfectly with the song—something rare in today’s world of YouTube where anything amature can pass as art. It also helps that “Furr” is one of the best songs of the year, a jaunty folk pop ditty that gets stuck in your head for days. We’re only seven days into 2009, but the bar has been set pretty high for Portland music videos.
