Luck-One, Bar 4 Bar Contest Entry for the Northwest Breakout Show
I don’t know what I’m more impressed by: The genius of Cool Nutz for hosting a weekly competition wherein MCs write verses over pre-selected instrumentals to outdo one another on Jammin’ 107.5’s Northwest Breakout radio show; or Luck One’s contribution, which is some whirling dervish, get-in-the-ring-motherfucker type shit. Mr. One calls out other MCs without calling them out at all, belittling the usual self-promotion of hip-hop (”So this is where I’m supposed to like, plug my MySpace page and like, buy my album, be my friend, come to my shows, right?”), which at first seems like a waste of precious time, to open his contribution. Then he lets the haymakers fly. I miss half the shit Luck-One says because he’s spitting quick and stringing verses one over the next, but it sounds real good to me nonetheless, and there’s a line about “suckers gassing like Auschwitz.” Crude, but effective. Congrats, champ.

The Northwest Breakout Show is on Jammin 107.5 on Saturdays between 6 and 8 pm. Luck One is the current champ of the show’s Bar 4 Bar competition. His EP, Beautiful Music, is set to be released on Feb. 15.

says:I am having a hell of a hard time getting more info about the bar 4 bar contests and what not. Where to get the beats, how often they do the segment, (cus last time I listened to the show, they didn’t do it, or I must have missed it) and what not.
props to Luck-One though. I just wish I wasn’t having such a difficult time trying to figure out how to even compete at all.
