Awesome news from the touring front. I got an email late Friday from Jack Lewis, frontman for Jack Lewis & the Fishermen Three (big surprise, huh?) that his newly named band is about to embark on a European tour opening for the Thermals and the Cribs. Lewis—for those who don’t know—is the brother of Jeffrey Lewis, the acclaimed anti-folk singer-songwriter/biographer, and his own songs are more tuneful and musical than his brothers but have the same wit. Lewis kind of reminds me of a more approachable David Berman, and his lo-fi songs are on the same wave length. Since Gary Jarman of the Cribs (not Casey’s brother, but they are both sorta British) now lives in Portland, this is officially a PDX takeover of the UK. I expect Jack to return home with some good stories and some new fans.
