White Hinterland Wanders the Streets of San Francisco
When she’s not turning your stomach into knots with hunger on her food blog or practicing her French, Casey Dienel—the pixie-voiced singer who goes by the name White Hinterland—apparently likes to sing her songs live in parks. With just a ukulele and a shaker, Dienel performs “Mon Amie La Rose” and “Vessels” on a stroll through San Francisco’s panhandle district. The footage of “Vessel” is particularly striking, as Dienel’s face is mostly obscured by the plant that the cameraman seems intent to hide behind. It’s a bit voyeuristic, but the setting is lovely and so are her renditions of two of my favorite songs of last year. Also, make sure to note the address of the house at the end of the video. Yeahhh local area codes!
