Beverly Hills’ Jump Clubb Covers Elliott Smith (Audio)
“Meet Jump Clubb. A band from Beverly Hills whose music combines dance, disco, and electronic styles with indie mentalities and vocals straight from the height of the lo-fi era. Think LCD Soundsystem meets Beat Happening. Or Hot Chip meets Eric’s Trip.”
—Press Release
I don’t find anything really offensive about this Elliott Smith cover: Smith’s vocal and rhythmic syncopation has always seemed like it would translate pretty easy to the dance club (despite the stormclouds hanging over Smith as a songwriter), so it actually seems kind of natural. But I know somebody out there wants to vent about it, right?

If you dig Jump Clubb’s rendering of “Angeles,” you might download this mixtape (featuring Peter, Bjorn and John; Eric’s Trip; Major Lazer and more). The group tries to remain anonymous, thus the lack of a band photo with this post. They do, however, have a publicity guy and a new album, which doesn’t feature the Smith cover on it. You can grab the MP3 version from iTunes.
