Now you can get all the TriMet talk you want with the new TriMet TV launched last week on TriMet’s website. Downloadable video podcasts will be available to riders and curious Portlanders on both the TriMet and Portland Mall websites. They can also be found on third-party sites like Youtube and iTunes.
The free video podcasts will feature updates on construction projects in the area as well as focus on other basics such as how to be a good TriMet rider and how to take MAX to the airport. Future planned projects even include doing feature stories on different bus lines to give riders an inside look at some of the history and culture of the bus line in their area.
TriMet Public Information Officer Peggy LaPoint says TriMet TV is “just a new way to communicate with riders. Our riders are using YouTube and the Web to connect,” she says, “and we want to connect with them.”
TriMet TV will also feature a real-time Portland Mall construction camera located on the roof of Pioneer Square Mall. LaPoint says this is a completely separate project, and that viewers can see the live footage on the Portland Mall website.
LaPoint also mentioned that any crimes taking place on camera could conceivably be used as evidence by the Portland Police. “I don’t think it would be out of the question,” she said.
