Candlelight Vigil
Community Comes Together
Portland, Oregon—On Tuesday, November 20th all are invited to join in a candle light vigil to mourn the loss of Dan Callaway and to support his friends, family, and loved ones.
Tuesday November 20th
Q Center
69 SE Taylor St.
8:00pm
Those in attendance are encouraged to bring candles.
Tuesday’s gathering will be an opportunity for the community to come together and support Dan’s partner Jonny Shultz and family, mother Karyn Callaway and father Phil Callaway of Philomath; and younger brother Jesse Callaway of Portland. Dan, who worked as a cancer researcher in the Oncology department of Legacy Good Samaritan, will be remembered as a community activist, avid bike commuter, the life of the party and an expert in the art of practical jokes.
Jonny and those close to Dan need the love and support of their community during this sad time.

It’s been reported both on television and in print that the person who came home to find Charles Daniel Callaway dead this weekend, the victim of an apparent burglary, was his “roommate.”
He wasn’t. Jonny Shultz was Callaway’s partner.
I know that because I’m friends with Jonny, and I can’t imagine the grief he’s feeling. But I do know that it must be adding insult to tragedy when the record is wrong.
And as Dan’s partner, Jonny needs our support and a clear explanation. They were partners.
Meantime, a few of us are working on trying to put together a candlelight vigil tomorrow night for Callaway. Details to follow.

Thank you so much for correcting this info. I am Jonny’s cousin from Ohio, and am so sad for him during this time. Because I cannot physically be there for him now, I offer deepest gratitude towards those of you who are there for him. I know he appreciates any support given. Peace be with you during this holiday season. ~Sarah
Dan & Jonny were a great couple, they worked hard to buy a home together. They were living really good lives. He was always proud of Dan. I was impressed meeting him. I want the person responsible to get True Justice. Please catch the one who took Dan.
We are Dan and jonny’s neighbors. Although we only met briefly, my immediate impression is that we would soon be friends as well. Dan awnsered the door for us trick or treating and told us how important it was for him to be home that night for the kids in the neighborhood. I was so stunned to come home and find my block in the midst of such a tragedy and even more upset at the disrespect of calling Dan and Jonny roommates. We can’t attend the vigil but are there in spirit. peace.
Byron- Before you get your panties in a bunch over the slighting of his boyfriend… keep in mind that this is an ongoing murder investigation and details like the relationship between the two men in the house may have been kept from the public on purpose… but thanks to the Willie Weak now everybody knows including the murderer who can now change his story to match the details he is learning here online. Thanks guys. Good responsible reporting, way to go.
Luke, we are no longer underground. We cannot hide our marriages any better than the President. By the way, his "roomate" is Laura.
The police value unpublished details only when those "details" are not already public knowledge. Only then can they be useful to an investigation by revealing the private knowledge of the perpetrator.
I want to send my deepest sympathy to all of you that loved Mr. Callaway. I think the man that they are saying did this should have never been free in the public. I feel sorry that they system let Mr. Callaway, and everyone who knew and loved him down. I am sorry.
