SPOILER ALERT: While fan forums were at first dismissive of the notion that The Amazing Race 13 was in town, it looks, at least from the blogs, that Portland, Ore. is not only on the itinerary, but is THE FINAL DESTINATION. And better yet, it’s all going down at O’Bryant Square, aka Paranoid Park, the inspiration for Gus Van Sant’s poetic film about punky, Portland skaters.

Here is a post from someone who is supposedly in the “know”

I can confirm this is 100% real!! I now know the EXACT location of the finale, but with my love of the race am not willing to subject them to a media frenzy–oh what’s a girl to do. “georgia peach”

DASHING FOR DOLLARS: Forget next Tuesday’s primary, the real race is already underway. Although officials at the Port of Portland cannot confirm rumors, CBS-TV’s The Amazing Race 13, which pits teams against each other in a race around the world, has touched down in Portland now through Thursday, May 15. Who knew? Well, as first reported here, it was none other than local mens panties proprietor, Steven Lien, of UnderU4men. According to Lien, who was pushed out of his normal parking garage to make way for the camera crew on Monday morning, the show looks like it’s staging right behind Broadway’s Benson Hotel. “There are about 20 big vehicles and lots of people in nice shoes and really dark glasses,” Lien told WW. Later that day a few production peeps (alas no Phil Keoghan) who came in to his shop looking for fresh underpants confirmed Amazing’s PDX presence for Lien. A quick web search also confirms that filming for the TV show is scheduled to take place sometime in May.

Let’s hope they have better luck getting half and half from our baristas than the following contestant had milking a camel.

  1. Kib says:

Our friends at realityfanforum.com seem to believe this isn’t true, and they have folks tracking and sending in images from La Paz, Bolivia among other places…

Comeon’ WW, we need better and second confirmation and sourcing than an underwear guy !

  2. Julie says:

The more important question – Can all those fancy vehicles park anywhere near O’Bryant Square without junkies smashing and grabbing all their spendy gear?

  3. hcrazy says:

Not true, I know someone working on the project that are using those vans. It is actually next season episode of the Oparah’s big give.

reality show in town is Big Give. spot out for a Oprah.

  4. sammyk says:

Yep, they’re here…..I just saw them on 5th and Salmon.

  5. sammyk says:

Let me add to my comment….the couples I saw running with camera men looked awfully rested and "together" for it the be the end. I’m guessing they were decoys.

  6. Underwear Guy says:

    **SPOILER**

I followed the girls, and the camera… I would bet money this was a decoy, Sammyk you nailed it. The girls got into a WRP van near the Voodoo Doughnuts, the were asking people along the way where Voodoo was… YET NO CLUE was to be found there. They all got into a van and drove off.

Beside, the International flight schedule would not have placed them in downtown.

What’s confirmed is TAR is in down! The producers clip boards were in view. We could read 13 – 1111 on the sheet. This is RACE 13.

Tomorrow morning is the likely timing of the finish. Early am, no one around… lets guess Timberline, the Falls, Washington Park, no not the Tram.

  7. Underwear Guy says:

    **SPOILER**
For those trying to figure out if the ‘real’ race teams have arrived or not consider these flight times:

Tonight PDX 22:55 PM from Mexico, many of the spoiler blogs have the teams coming in from Bolivia so this connection could work.

    8:10 AM Arrival Tokyo/Narita
    11:55 AM Arrival Amsterdam
    11:20 AM Arrival Frankfurt

The parking spaces for the support and film crews are secured through the end of the day tomorrow so keep your eyes out and post!

  8. Underwear Guy says:

    **SPOILER**

The final location was the Pittock Mansion! Driving up Burnside late today I spotted the support rigs (WRP) they were all going up to the mansion. The security was tight. I don’t know the winner of the one million dollars, but the City of Portland will garner much more as will the rest of the state. What a fantastic sunny day to shoot the last of TAR 13! Congratulations to Portland! Thank you AR for selecting our city.

  9. Jason says:

There was a clue box right in front of VooDoo donuts, I was there today. When nobody was close to coming, the producers would cover the box with a trash bag but when people were nearby, they would uncover the box and shoo anyone away that was standing near it. It was probably one of the last clues if the Pittock Mansion was the last stop.
