If you’re looking for Halloween plans and think you’re too old for trick-or-treating, how about trying Trick or Vote ?

The Bus Project’s annual get-out-the-vote canvassing mission, which began in 2004, is going national this year, with 5,000 volunteers in 31 cities dressing up and going door to door.

Groups of Trick or Vote volunteers will pass out voter guides and remind people to vote in a nonpartisan effort that hopes to reach 100,000 homes across the country.

The event’s organizers believe Halloween provides the best opportunity to canvass for voter information.

“What’s the one day of the year we culturally are ready for a knock on the door?” says Trick or Vote National Coordinator, Alex Aronson. “Halloween conveniently falls a few days before the election every year. You may be too old to trick-or-treat, but you’re never too old to trick-or-vote.”
In Portland, groups are meeting at 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at AudioCinema , 226 SE Madison St.
