OK, it’s a slow news day. Here’s the latest from the U.S. Attorney’s office on a tax-dodging porn starlet with an Oregon connection:
Adult Film Actress Sentenced to Prison for Failing To Pay Taxes
Admitted to failing to pay more than $200,000 in taxes owed to Internal Revenue Service
Eugene, Ore. – Adult film actress and former Penthouse model Janine M. James, also
known as Janine Lindemulder, 40, Huntington Beach, California, was sentenced today in U.S.
District Court in Eugene, Oregon based on a guilty plea she entered in August 2008 to willfully
failing to pay her outstanding federal income taxes.
From 2000 through 2006, James, while owing more than $200,000 in federal taxes, spent
over $750,000 on homes, vehicles, furniture and a piano, while failing to voluntarily make any
payments to the IRS.
After a sentencing hearing today, United States Magistrate Judge Thomas Coffin ordered
James to serve six months in federal prison, followed by one year of supervised release. As part
of her post-prison supervised release, James must participate in a residential community
corrections center for up to six months. In addition, James must pay all her outstanding taxes,
which currently are about $294,000. James was ordered to report to prison on March 10, 2009.
The Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation, investigated the case. The case
was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Chris Cardani.
