Paulson
Commissioner Dan Saltzman was the third “yes” today on the City Council to advance Portland’s deal with Merritt Paulson on his proposal to bring Major League Soccer here.

Commissioners Amanda Fritz and Nick Fish were “no” votes, but were outvoted 3-2.

Along with Saltzman, Mayor Sam Adams and Commissioner Randy Leonard also voted yes.

Earlier in the day, a unanimous vote by the council removed the language in the proposal about a new urban renewal district in Northwest Portland, calling into question the possible use of that tool to raise $15 million.

Scary fast! But hey…when Sam (did he recently get botox and a peel?) Lenny and Saltzman, are having this much fun, who are we to dampen their party glow, with thoughts of school districts and infrastructure? BTW, mine is a soccer family, but there is a time and a place.

  2. JJ Gildersneeze says:

    I knew Saltzman would flip.

"I’m in agony over this vote… the schools, the children… the environment… I’m really really torn…

I’m not happy, but after careful consideration, I’ll vote with the developers and the ziollionaires…

(You all saw me anguish over this vote, right?)"

    What a weenie he is.

It was Saltzman’s flip that also brought us the tram, Portland’s monument to graft and corruption. Perhaps it is time to seriously rethink Dan and Randy.

    Portland’s Stadium Scam?

    Rhymes with Aerial Tram!

I just looked it up: it will only be about a year from now the Dan Saltzman is running for re-election (May 2010).

Next spring I’m going door-to-door to every house in town for any credible candidate who’s up against that %*%&$ do-nothing frankfurter.

  6. Ed says:

Looks like a few more city council members to add to the recall list in June when we recall Adams.

  7. ChrisMcM says:

And Portland just keeps voting these fools in — battered wife syndrome or something?

I heard Amanda Fritz has a little training certificate in couples therapy or something..maybe she can put on a "Battered into Submission and Lovin’ It!!" seminar.

Oh, a soccer stadium? Will they have plastic bags there, or paper? How about mentoring tables for all our high-school dropouts? Affordable housing between the parking spaces? Aerial-trams with bike-lanes? I am looking in my crystal ball and Mr Saltzman is looking WAY blotted out.
