Susan Beal, pictured above, has a new book, Button It Up! (The Taunton Press, 2009). And to celebrate, the 2007 WW “cover girl” is hosting a book signing and free crafting session at Powell’s Books tonight at 7:30 p.m.

Folks who show up can make their own hairclips with some of the buttons from Beal’s personal collection, pictured below.

(Pssst: There’s also a second event at Bolt Fabric Boutique next Saturday, March 28, at 4 p.m. And folks who go there get to make cute button magnets and pushpins. Plus, according to Beal’s blog, “anyone who buys a copy of the book from Bolt will get a vintage button grab bag as a thank-you, and we’ll also be giving away a fantastic prize package during the event — fabric, gift certificates, buttons, and other crafty surprises.”)
