I have been a huge Rick Emerson fan for years and was pumped when he moved to KUFO…but the constant interruption of music really turns me off.

I really don’t know what CBS Radio management is thinking, but they need to correct their error in judgment.

Yes, the music does suck and I want to hear more of Rick, Sarah, and Tim. Since they’ve made this change I find myself changing stations to avoid the music, then getting angry when I either change back too soon or too late! I just want to hear Rick and the gang. I’ll tolerate commercials, but not the equivalent of six to ten minutes of ‘dead air’ — you can play your music during other slots…

I don’t know how the ratings game works in radio, but I’m a prime demographic for advertisers and will spend money on products. If the music makes me change the station to listen to Nelson and Terry (or their music) any time the music starts then I’m not listening to KUFO’s advertisers…

I too have been listen for about ten years, the RES is the best local show ever. At first I was excited about the switch to KUFO they were finally getting their due. However it seems to be watered down now and to corporate, I am starting to miss the old days. Anyway my main complaint is the music take out the music and give the RES more air time. After all this is a morning TALK show. Here is a history lesson on KUFO mornings, lets review. Howard…TALK, Corolla…TALK, RES…MUSIC??? What the hell, how does that make sense? Think about it.

I have been listening to the RES for ten years. It is by far the best talk show I have ever encountered on any radio station, anywhere. I want to join with the voices raised in protest against reducing the talk time for Rick, Sarah, and Tim — cutting it in half no less. I understand that some format change might be necessary because of the morning drive time slot and the fact that the RES is now on a primarily rock music station, but cutting the Rick-Sarah-Tim time in half is far too drastic. Like other listeners, I am well-educated (if Stanford counts), have disposable income and I support the RES advertisers. We want more Rick, more Tim, and more Sara-with-an-h.

I’ve listened to the RES for years and have followed the ups and downs accordingly. I am not the ‘geek-loving’ male demographic, I’m a 40 something married, professional, female, mother of two teenage boys with ALOT of disposible income. Ror some reason unknown reason, I really relate to Rick, Sarah and Tim and what they talk about. That’s right, TALK about. Over the years I have patronized many of their sponsors, which is exactly in line with the radio business model. Now, I only listen to podcasts of the RES because of the format change. Guess what? Now I can’t patronize the sponsors…’cause I don’t hear their ads. CBS, you are really making a mistake.

I loved Rick and the gang on the old program. Now I don’t feel the love and don’t want to listen to the god awful music that they play. So I no longer tune in, I suspect many others are doing the same.

I have been listening to Rick since day one in PDX. While I am not up to hear his new show, I am surprised that they have forced music into the show. While I have no problem with the occasional song or two, the stuff that KUFO plays is just horrible.

Do I really need to hear the same grunge rock songs that they have been spinning daily since 1995? And the “new rock” stuff of theirs is awful. I am sure if it was done more tastefully, like say a classic heavy metal tune weaved in every hour or so it would not be that bad.

This just shows how CBS Radio is out of touch with their local markets or maybe it’s a consultant.

I listened to KCMD all day long five days a week from 11AM to about 7PM. (Attention CBS Radio I am the target demographic & I support the advertisers.)

RES moved to KUFO and I listened for about a month. I couldn’t take it anymore. My favorite thing to do all day was now riddled with twenty min of commercials and twenty five min of music every hour.

Who was the idiot who thought “Wow this guy has a great show for four hours. I bet if we add three hours worth of music and spots it will get better?” Sounds like CBS is letting the wrong people go. Scotty J. could run this place better than these douche bags.

CBS change KUFO and make it a real rock music station. Music sets should be longer than commercial breaks.

CBS save Rick Emerson, Sarah and Tim and put them were they need to be. Back where the Glorious Bastards can feed on their voices for hours. Bring back Solid State Radio where it was the “Best Show Ever.”

Right and if the RES audience is so small and insignificant why was KUFO always sending their on-air talent over to the RES on AM to promote their stuff? (Which we listeners did NOT mind by the way, because Cort and Fatboy and Lisa Wood are completely awesome).
