City Commissioner Nick Fish says the report issued today by Attorney General John Kroger should close the inquiry into Mayor Sam Adams.

“I think this ends the matter,” Fish said. “I was the person who pushed to have the AG take up this investigation because I had great confidence in his abilities. This report effectively clears the mayor of any criminal wrongdoing. I accept the report and am prepared to move forward.”

Cleared of criminal wrongdoing. Not cleared of shameless ambition, compulsive lying, political dirty tricks and Nixon-esque behavior. Not to mention pandering to every constituency to save his sorry butt.

  2. pdxrocks says:

Let’s see, every major local newspaper calls for Sam to resign because of his ethical transgressions and Nick Fish thinks that this ends the matter?

How clueless can a politician be in this new era of voter rejection of politics as usual?

Planning on running again Nick? Every current commissioner should pay close attention to the upcoming recall.

On the other hand, almost every independent analyst seems to believe that a recall is SOL without evidence of criminal wrongdoing. The likelihood there will be a recall at all, much less a successful vote on one, just got pretty dang small.

  4. pdxrocks says:

Care to cite these “independent analysts”, torridjoe?

The governor of California, to name one, was recalled by the voters without evidence of criminal activity.

    Ends what matter?

To think anyone could possibly dismiss the idea that the weight of Sam’s issues hung solely by the thread of whether he was able to hold off on acting out on his hots for Beau until the kid turned 18 or not, must still closetly believe in Santa Clause.

How does the AG not finding Amy a hire to keep her off the story, dismiss the fact that she was inexperienced and without education or background for the particular job description, we were told she was hired for?

In the end, it appears that the only thing Fish’s idea to bring the AG in on it, has really accomplished, is put the focus on Beau as a confused and corrupted felon, out for financial gain, and whose testimony can’t be trusted.

Perhaps if Sam had been more interested in actually mentoring the teen, as opposed to having sex with him, things may have turned out differently…at least for Beau.

  6. torridjoe says:

They’re in every article that discusses the plausibility of a successful recall. I have yet to see anyone claim it has any real chance without an adverse finding by Kroger.

    • annie says:

And the PR pushing for the stadium in Lents would have had us believe, that Lents was just one chain saw away from picking up the tab to deface their park with a corporate stadium…

Meaning, your attempts to sell the Recall up river based on the AG findings concerning legal vs illegal sex (in Beau’s case, less than a hand full of months between his and Sam’s first meeting in Salem, and ironing that wrinkled shirt of his, in Sam’s basement their infamous weekend just days after he FINALLY turned the legally fuckable age), is about as weak as the attempt to gut Lents Park was.

  7. pdxrocks says:

torridjoe, everyone is entitled to an opinion, which is all you’re referring to; opinions.

I think everyone who supports the recall believed it would happen irregardless of the AGs findings. Jasun Wurster has been very clear about this from day one.

The recall is about Sam’s ethics and integrity. The AGs report does nothing to address these issues.

    • torridjoe says:

yes, I am referring to opinions. I never claimed differently. And I’m not suggesting the recall EFFORT won’t continue–or that it shouldn’t even. I support the right of Portlanders to attempt a recall. All I’m saying is that the objective observers I’ve read don’t give it much of a chance–especially if the DoJ report ruled out criminal wrongdoing.

PDXROCKS: The above has been behind SAM, for years, being in front sure as hell isn’t good!

  9. pdxrocks says:

67falcon: Yes, I can see that. Sam has enough political power and a big enough ego to stab anyone who gets his way in the back, to put it the polite way…

  10. Jack Peek says:

Leonard also said he thought the report would undermine public support for the recall campaign against Adams scheduled to begin on July 7.

“This should take the wind out of their sails,” he said.

    SUBJECT: BLIND ARROGANCE:

If your of the mind set to agree with Randy’s statement, let me say, at least I RESPECT your right…even if you do not agree with the following.

Dear Mr/Mrs/Ms…PORTLAND OREGON PUBLIC, IF YOU DISAGEE WITH THE STUPID ..

“This should take the wind out of their sails,” he said. QOUTE

Please forward your disagreement to your entire email list, then sign up for the recall of SAM ADAM’S .

RANDY FORGETS SOMETIME WHO HE WORKS FOR. Jack Peek

The matter is over now? These reports just dirty the cesspool even more. Both parties are now uncredible and confirmed liars-does anyone flinch when $750 in cash is left in an envelope for the mayor’s innapropriate contacts at city hall’s front desk as a ‘loan’ when the mayor declared bankruptcy and now can’t pay his mortgages? How charitble. No alterior motive there. Now that Nick Fish has flipped, the whole lot of them are covered in Willamette River sewage. I’m officially disgusted.
