A measure that would allow online voter registration in Oregon has passed the state Senate.
The measure, House Bill 2386, was approved Monday by the Senate and has already been approved by the House. But it must now return to the House for approval of several small amendments.
Henry Kraemer, political coordinator of the Oregon Bus Project, says HB 2386 is “the logical next step in moving forward in democracy” with increases in voter registrations expected to be “in the thousands.” Online voter registration was introduced to Arizona in 2002, and by 2007 72% of all registrations were done online.
Online registration is expected to be available to Oregonians starting next March.

what?? Online voter registration + vote-by-mail-only: RECIPE for fraud. I guess ACORN will soon have an Oregon branch, if they don’t already.
How is online voter registration any more conducive to fraud than filling out the little card? You still have to have a local driver’s license or social security number. Processing registrations automatically may make it easier to spot fraud, since the state will be able to identify multiple registrations from a single IP address.
